Dish Installation Process

First thing first, you need to assemble the dish with all the parts provided brands from companies like Space TV and Ellies have dishes that are equipped with the assembly manual. Once the dish is assembled correctly (ensuring the adjustable screws that attach to the wall bracket are not too tight), you can install the wall bracket in a direction similar to other DSTV signals; Coordinates for Cape Town Satellite installations are 33.9137° S, 18.4201° E, these may differ from region to region. The perfect place to put the dish would be out of obstructions like trees or buildings. This affects the quality of the signal you will receive. The wall bracket is to be placed at a perfect angle you can use a spirit level if you have to.

Once the bracket is set up, may proceed to mounting the dish on it. Take with you the Digital Satellite finder and link it to the LNB, that would be sitting in front of the dish and if installed correctly would be pointing at a 30 degree downward angle at the left side of the dish. This angle is very important and if ignored the satellite dish will not have signal. Attach one end of the lead cable to the LNB and the other to the Sat finder and the search for signal begins. Once the digital sat finder is on it will give you a reading of the signal in two parts depending on the brand you purchase. We recommend buying a digital Satellite finder with Signal Strength and Signal quality readings. As you move the dish sideways and upwards you will notice that the signal tends to fluctuate and you will be looking for the highest reading as you slowly tighten the screws. Once at its peak in the readings (ideally 100% on strength) slowly tighten the screws while minding the reading on the satellite finder. To check if the dish is tight enough, slightly hit the back of the dish and see whether the reading on the digital satellite finder fluctuates at a rate lower than 10% and you are good to go. You may neaten the cable with cable ties attaching the cable to the wall bracket and nail clips would be to attach it to the wall surfaces

After the dish is installed with adequate signal you can now run the RG6 cable from the satellite Dish into the house. The ideal way would be to take the cable into the roof from the outside and dropping it either through the ceiling or through conduit pipes into the room in which you would like to place the decoder. The cable has enough of its troubles, when setting up the RG6 cable for screwing into either the DSTV decoder or the satellite dish there are factors to consider. Firstly you need to peel of just the top layer (white part) of the cable then you will encounter soft silver wires combine them all together as you peel out the second white layer this is where you will encounter a copper wire. The copper and the silver wires should not touch under any circumstances as you screw in the f-type connector and the copper wire should protrude by a few millimetres from the and of the f connector. Once all cables are affixed to their respective points, you can light up the decoder and scan. After scanning you should have a test picture (Channel 100). Now Enjoy your viewing.
